Ramblings from the guy you hear on the radio!

Name... That... Blizzard!

Yes... the rumors are true... The Weather Channel will start naming winter storms and blizzards this year just as hurricanes are named each year. The first time I heard this, I thought the idea was crazy. But then they made a good point about why they are doing this. I will share that with you in a moment. Here are the names you can expect to hear this winter when you flip over to The Weather Channel:

Hilarious, right?

I mentioned a moment ago that this idea kinda makes sense. And here is why:
  • Naming a storm raises awareness.
  • Attaching a name makes it much easier to follow a weather system’s progress.
  • A storm with a name takes on a personality all its own, which adds to awareness.
  • In today’s social media world, a name makes it much easier to reference in communication.
  • A named storm is easier to remember and refer to in the future.
My only question now... where is Blizzard Braden?
