Thomas Rhett's single "Die A Happy Man" spends its sixth consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week, making Rhett the first artist to hold the top spot for the same reign since Taylor Swift did so exactly eight years ago with her hit, "Our Song." Reacting to the exciting news, Thomas said, "I seriously can't believe this song has spent six weeks at #1." "Die A Happy Man" is Thomas' 5th consecutive #1 song and is the second single off his sophomore studio album, Tangled Up.

Scotty McCreery (see top image above) is a huge New England Patriots fans, and he would stake almost anything on their success. Well, on Sunday (1/24), McCreery invited several of his friends to his North Carolina beach house to watch broadcast of the AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and Denver Broncos. In advance of the game, Scotty made a bet with his buddy Evan McNeill. If the Patriots won, then McNeill would do a polar plunge into the Atlantic Ocean -- but if the Broncos won, McCreery would be the one submerging himself the icy cold water. After the Denver Broncos beat the New England Patriots 20-18, McCreery stuck to his word and ran into the darkness of the night to take an icy dip in the ocean. Scotty's friend Austin Nagy soon posted video of the singer's plunge on twitter. McCreery took to Twitter shortly after the plunge to say, "That was cold." Scotty is shaking off the loss and the cold this week with shows in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Thursday (1/28) and Rama, Ontario, on Friday (1/29).

Keith Urban's father Robert Urban passed away Saturday night (12/5). Keith released this statement about his dad, "I've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nic and I, and our family, have received since my Dad’s passing on Saturday night. His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace. My Dad’s love of country music and America set me on my life's journey, and shaped so much of who I am today. Thank you to everyone who has kept us all in your thoughts and prayers."

In September, Kenny Rogers announced that he'll be hitting the road in 2016 on his final world tour. At the time Kenny said that he was retiring to spend more time with his wife and kids, but it seems there's another reason for his departure. Rogers recently opened up to Variety about the current state of country music, saying the genre is moving in a different direction than what he's used to. Kenny said, "I think country music is whatever country people will buy, and I think people don't buy certain kinds of country anymore. So what happens is that in their efforts to do something different, to set themselves apart from me and the other guys before me, they took it to a different place." And the direction country music is heading has at least partly influenced his decision to leave. Kenny recently released first new Christmas studio album in seventeen years titled Once Again It's Christmas. He's also set to perform a song from the new holiday album on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, December 14.

Merle Haggard had to postpone several shows over the weekend after a case of pneumonia landed him in a California hospital last week. Haggard also postponed his date in Wendover, Nevada, scheduled for Saturday (12/5). The message also states that The Hag hopes to be well enough to play his shows scheduled tonight (12/7) and tomorrow (12/8) at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, as well as perform concerts in Beverly Hills and Lemoore, California, on Wednesday (12/9) and Thursday (12/10).

When Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Dean celebrate 50 years of marriage in May of 2016, the two might have something special planned to commemorate their milestone Golden anniversary. While Dolly is a renowned cultural icon, her husband Carl has largely stayed out of the public eye over the years. The two were married in Ringgold, Georgia, in 1966. Dolly's childhood life before she met Dean will be the subject of the new holiday film Coat of Many Colors, which debuts on NBC this Thursday (12/10) at 9 PM ET on NBC. The film takes place in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955 and is based on the incidents in Parton's life around the time she was nine years old. The film stars Jennifer Nettles as Dolly's mother and young actress Alyvia Lind as a nine-year-old version of the country star.

Keith Urban's friends and family members were in Nashville on Tuesday night (12/1) for the opening celebration of his Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit "Keith Urban So Far …," but one of the singer's closest family members – his father Robert Urban – was not there. Keith tells The Tennessean that his father recently was placed in hospice care, which he says has affected him greatly in the last few days. Keith largely credits his father's love of country music for inspiring him to become an artist and move to Nashville. Among the many sentimental artifacts on display in the new exhibit are the stage outfits Urban's father made for him when he was a kid. The exhibit will run through May of 2016.

Florida Georgia Line was named one of CMT's top Artists of the Year for a second straight year during the ceremony on Wednesday night (12/2), but one of the duo's members missed the event because he was feeling under the weather. Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley missed the ceremony because they were at home recovering from a reaction they had to some shots they recently received. During FGL's acceptance speech, Brian Kelley explained that Hubbard and his wife are heading to Africa in January and had a bad reaction to the shots they'd gotten in preparation to go abroad. Brian told the audience, "My heart is pounding, man. I know if Tyler was here right next to me right now, his heart would be pounding, too." Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, and Sam Hunt were also honored during the Wednesday night's sixth-annual CMT Artists of the Year ceremony.

The girls from Maddie & Tae have teamed up with Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Nashville Predators hockey team to launch "Shine Bright," a letter-writing campaign within Middle Tennessee. As part of the campaign, booths will be set up at various events and locations in the community, where people may write "Words That Shine," to encourage Children's Hospital patients, their families and the hospital's staff. The booths will stay open through the end of January to assist the initiative's ultimate goal of showing support to caregivers and brightening patients' days.

A bout of strep throat caused Chris Young to postpone last night's (12/3) scheduled show at the Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minnesota. Young announced the news on Twitter yesterday, saying, "Hey guys, I'm battling a case of strep throat, I never want to disappoint you, but I've been advised by doctors that I can’t perform today." Chris said in the message that the Duluth show would be rescheduled for a date in early 2016 and that previously purchased tickets will be honored at that show. Young's website has an upcoming date at Duluth's Amsoil Arena scheduled on January 9. It appears that Chris' upcoming dates scheduled in Rochester, Minnesota, tonight (12/4) and Green Bay, Wisconsin, tomorrow (12/5) have also been postponed until next month. His website now has no dates scheduled for the remainder of 2015.

In her cover story for the January issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, Miranda Lambert talked about her divorce from Blake Shelton in a very candid interview. In the interview, Lambert opened up about life after the divorce and also made it clear that people shouldn't pick a side when it comes to their split. Lambert tells the mag, "We are real people with real lives and real (bleep). We're both very honest. This is what it is now, and we're moving forward. We don't need all the opinions. We just need y'all to be supportive, and nobody pick a side -- because there ain't a side." While Miranda told Cosmo that she's not ready to start dating yet, she did open up about when she feels her sexiest. Lambert says, "I feel the sexiest when I'm in my element, which is playing music."
