Today's More's Mystery

December 18, 2014.......Looking for a classic movie.....

1.  The original version of this movie came out in the mid-1940s.

2.  It was nominated for 4 Academy Awards and won 3 of them.

3.  The movie featured a child star who's career continued through her adulthood until she died in the early 80s under mysterious circumstances.

Answer:  Miracle On 34th Street

The film won Academy Awards for Best Actory in a Supporting Role (Edmund Gwenn), Best Writing Original Story and Best Writing, Screenplay.  It was also nominated for Best Picture, losing to "Gentlemam's Agreement".

Natalie Wood was the child star of the movie.  During the making of her last film, "Brainstorm", she drowned while on a weekend boat trip to Santa Catalina Island, California with her husband, Robert Wagner, actor Christopher Walken and the boat's captain, Dennis Davern.  Many facts surrounding her drowning are unknown because no one admitted seeing how she entered the water.
